Teenage Health

HERE TO LISTEN, NOT TO TELL.
WE PROVIDE CONFIDENTIAL SERVICE TO YOUNG PEOPLE INCLUDING THE UNDER 16'S.

You can chose to tell others about visits to the surgery but we won't. The only reason why we might consider passing on confidential information without your permission, would be to protect you or someone else from serious harm. We would always try and discuss this with you first. If you have any worries about confidentiality, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK A MEMBER OF STAFF.

available services for young people include:

C Card - condom card scheme for under 25's

The C Card Scheme is available wherever you see this sign.
Young people aged under 25 can use the C Card to obtain free condoms and lubricants from a number of c-card points across Nottinghamshire.

If you want free condoms and are under 25 then you can register for a C Card today at the surgery by booking an appointment with Eddie Alder (Nurse Practitioner),
Sally Horton (Practice Nurse) or Dr Kennedy.

Once registered condoms can be collected during appointments or picked up from reception, using the private window from the porch area. No need to explain anything -just show the C card to the receptionist and they will provide the condoms, which are packaged in plain bags.

Chlamydia screening

Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection.

It affects both men and women — but don't worry it can be easily treated with antibiotics. About 1 in 10 sexually active young people tested have chlamydia, yet most people who have it do not have any signs or symptoms and will not know that they've got it.

But a simple test will show if you have it!

Chlamydia tests are simple and do not require embarrassing examination. Tests are usually taken by yourself, not by a nurse or doctor. For men testing simply involves peeing in a pot.

Once found Chlamydia can be easily treated , usually with a single dose of antibiotic tablets (or liquid).

To arrange Chlamydia screening at Netherfield Medical Centre speak to Eddie (Nurse Practitioner), any of the practice nurses or GPs.
