Welcome to Netherfield Medical Centre
There has been a medical practice based in Netherfield for over fifty years, serving the medical needs of people in Netherfield, Colwick, Gedling and Carlton.
The practice is characterised by stable working relationships and a forward looking, experienced Medical Team. Between them, the five doctors have worked in Netherfield for almost 80 years.
The Practice Medical Team consists of five GP Partners, a long-term GP Locum, and a team of five Practice Nurses including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, each with their own speciality and who are ably supported by two Healthcare Assistants.
Behind the scenes we have a large administrative team, led by the two managers who ensure the smooth running of the practice.
Two of our GPs, one of the Practice Managers and our Nurse Manager are all involved in setting the local health agenda via the commissioning of health provision.
The practice has a list of 9000 patients and is housed in modern purpose-built premises in Netherfield. There is ample parking nearby and easy disabled access. We have a hearing loop facility in reception.
We offer general medical services, minor surgery, contraception advice, travel vaccinations and joint injections. One of our doctors holds a diploma in dermatology. The Practice has Teaching Practice status and we are training some of the GP’s of the future.
Our nurses run chronic disease clinics for patients with respiratory disease, heart disease, diabetes and also those in need of preventative lifestyle advice. The nurses provide the full range of childhood and adolescent immunisations.
The clinical team offer high quality medical care and maintain their skills with a programme of continuing professional development and annual appraisal. This allows them to offer both traditional family based medical practice combined with up-to-date evidence based care. This is reflected in our high scores on the NHS Choices website, which indicate high levels of patient satisfaction and ease of access to GP's and Nurses.
In June 2005, in line with the Department of Health’s National Programme for IT, we led the way in the Nottinghamshire Health Community by pioneering the use of a computerised record system (SystmOne), with the capability of linking up to the National Spine and services. This computerised system has now been rolled out across the Trent Health region linking up different healthcare workers in the community.
The high standard of our electronic record keeping has resulted in the practice being awarded data accreditation and “paper-light” status. We were only the second practice in Nottinghamshire to achieve this.
Our patients can be confident that their records are accurate, up-to-date and secure.
The practice has a high number of elderly patients. These are visited as required. The practice supports the local nursing homes with our Nurse Practitioner visiting regularly. The Healthcare Assistants also visit as needed to provide blood tests and health screening.
The practice welcomes new patients. To provide accessible care to our patients, we have extended our opening times to include early mornings and later evening appointments. We welcome comments and support via our Patient Participation Group.
